ONE Project Summary:
North East LHIN – ONE Project
The 24 hospitals of the NE LHIN are moving forward with the first Canadian multi-Organization MEDITECH READY Expanse implementation in Canada.
Standards
In order to facilitate the entire group of hospitals, an extensive standardization effort was undertaken that developed MEDITECH system standards, clinical standards, and financial standards for all applications prior to implementation. This standards process also fed into the MEDITECH Provincial standards that were being established in order to facilitate the establishment of a MEDITECH HUB for Ontario. Established standards are enabled and managed via MEDITECH’s Corporate Management Software(CMS).
Build & Implementation
The build based on the standards process, was completed for all 24 sites, but focused on the first 3 sites to go-live based on priority and a mix of attributes including size, complexity, and existing system migration. The implementation included all the MEDITECH Expanses clinical and financial modules with the exception of Web Ambulatory, Oncology and Patient Portal which are expected to be implemented in later phases on the ONE initiative.
Wave One – first 3 sites LIVE
The first 3 sites to go live were Sault Area Hospital – migration from MEDITECH Client Server, North Bay Regional Health Centre – upgrade from MEDITECH Magic, and West Parry Sound Health Centre – migration from third party legacy software. The system architecture and technical architecture is established in the Ontario MEDITECH Provincial HUB in a hosted environment that can be leveraged by other Health organizations in Ontario
