6.0 to Expanse Lessons Learned

For those planning a 6.0 to Expanse migration, these lessons learned are invaluable. We will cover the issues faced during a recent project, including ideas and tips designed to assist sites with their build activity, as well as how to best implement the system when moving from 6.0 to Expanse. Included is discussion on and ideas regarding the planning, build, testing and go-live phases of the project. Also reviewed are conversions, updates, and support suggestions. In addition, we discuss Ambulatory, and the Web Presentation Layer.

Dawn Osborn has more than 30 years of healthcare informatics experience, with the last 13 years focused on MEDITECH Revenue Cycle applications. She has worked with MAGIC, C/S, 6.0 and Expanse as a Financial/Revenue Cycle Project Manager, Lead, Architect and Analyst. She has also held management and database admin roles in Health Information Management, Patient Accounting, and Management Information Systems. Dawn holds a Masters of Health Information Administration and is a certified Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), as well as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC). Dawn joined CereCore in 2018 as an Expanse Financial Lead, completing both Expanse Implementation and Optimization projects.

Cherie Diefenbach is a Registered Nurse (RN) with 35 years of experience in healthcare information systems. She has worked with HCA since 1995 in a variety of roles including: Hospital Director of Information and Security, Emergency Department Implementation Manager and Director of Clinical Product Development to name a few. She has been working with CereCore specifically for the past five years and has served as a Project Manager, EDM Implementation Lead, CPOE Implementation Consultant and Clinical Consultant. She holds a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare in addition to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Her most recent projects include an Expanse Implementation in a dual role as a Project Manager and Clinical Lead and an Expanse Clinical Optimization project.
